README for 'umsdoc90.lha'


'umsdoc90' is the first release of public documentation for UMS V9.

This  archive  may  be freely copied and distributed, as long as it is
left  unchanged.   Usage  of others packers is allowed, but the single
files may not be changed and no files may be added or removed from the
archive.

It contains the folloing files:

  Readme.txt            - this file
  Acknowledgements.txt  - some acknowledgements
  ums-mf.doc            - the UMS message format
  ums.doc               - the ums.library functions
  ums.h                 - C includes for ums.library
  ums-cfg.doc           - the UMS config file


These texts "ums.doc", "ums.h", "ums-cfg.doc" describe the current
Amiga implementation of UMS.

Nevertheless they may well be used when writing an UMS system for
other machines.


The  current  Amiga  implementation  of UMS is available in an archive
called  'umslib90.lha'.   This  archive contains only the message base
processor  ('ums.library'  and  'l:umsserver')  and importers for UUCP
('rmail' and 'rnews').

Since  there  is  no newsreader and no exporter, this archive is still
USELESS to USERS!!!

It is only meant to allow programmers that want to write programs for
UMS to have a first look at it.
